Yesterday, Diageo 1HQ had the honour of hosting over 100 professionals from across the industry at the Black FMCG x Diageo Spirit of Resilience event. It marked a crucial step in shaping our GB culture, reaffirming that our success is tied to the strength of our team. Our ambition begins and ends with our People and Edinburgh provided us with an incredible opportunity to come together, learn, listen, and celebrate. A heartfelt thank you to our special guest speakers, Dame Kelly Holmes and Lieutenant Colonel Andrea Peters, their contribution elevated the conference and inspired us all to embrace courage and boldness in our pursuits. ![]() I'm so thrilled to hear the countless stories of the teams engagement in our "Scotch Safari", as we visited iconic Diageo sites across our supply business. The conference was more than just an event, it was an opportunity to connect, learn more about one another, our business and the rich history of our brands. Scotch whisky contributes nearly £5.5 billion to the UK economy every year as well as 40,000 jobs-many in the growing scotch tourism industry. Scotch is our largest category and we produce over 100 individual scotch brands including Johnnie Walker. Edinburgh served as a pivotal moment in our GB journey, in Scotland alone we have 29 malt distilleries, 1.5 grain distilleries, two packaging sites and nine maturation warehousing sites. As I opened the conference last Tuesday, I emphasized the importance of immersing ourselves in Scotland. What an amazing experience it has been to take the GB Market to Edinburgh for this year's 2BGB "Courage to be bolder" conference! The energy, passion, and enthusiasm displayed by our team was truly inspiring. GREAT is the UK Government’s flagship international communications programme with the objective of driving economic growth across the UK by encouraging international audiences to visit, study, trade, invest, live and work in the UK. Speaking about filming with Khalid, she further said, “I want the beauty, fun and silliness of our friendship to really come across to the viewer…I think it’s important that we both represent two black pop stars doing pop star shit in the video, and just two humans singing their hearts out as a call out to ‘The One,’ wherever they are out there.I was honoured to be invited by the Prime Minister to Downing Street to celebrate the success of the “GREAT” campaign, which promotes the best of the UK around the Globe. Reflecting on the inspiration behind the video, Bree explained, “when I think of this song I think, Shania Twain, ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much.’” She wanted the video for “Be The One,” to have “the same sort of cleanliness of Shania but that Bree Runway edge.” desert, belting out the chorus with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset.
